OUR HISTORY

Eyehunter Guide Service originated in Appalachia Kentucky.  Loggers and Tobacco farmers in Kentucky made extra money by guiding Elk hunting & Trapping trips for the wealthy Coal Mining families out west..  As time passed the youth in our family began to guide as a profession while they worked in drop camps for logging crews.  In 1947 Tough Mountain Outfitters became a full time operation based in the Colorado Rockies as a Trapping and Hunting Guide Service, Gold Mining tours,  the Fur trade and a loggers school.  The following year they branched out at home in the Mountains of Eastern Kentucky where they ran a Logging, Fur trade business and worked as guides for the coal mine industry that had come to the east.  In the late 70's for work and lack of Wild Life in Kentucky our family branched to Ohio and Canada in search of Fur Trade, Fishing Guide work or any job they could find.  Saskatchewan became the family's next venture in Fur Trade and Bear hunting.  Here in Ohio in 1978 Tough Mountain Outfitters harvested their first Whitetail Deer as an Outfitter in Ohio.  In the foot steps of my family I walked beside them and was passed on generations of knowledge.  A Heritage that we share today as a family.  With the loss of family members, Tough Mountain Outfitters weathered its last storm and was put to rest in 1981.

In 1984 we guided our first official hunt as a boy of 14 years of age here was I was raised.  My uncle and I were determined that we would guide again as a living, maintaining a Heritage that had existed since the days of the old west.  In 1987 we began sharing our love for Lake Erie fishing with customers and combined our passions to become what is now EYEHUNTER GUIDE SERVICE and 22 years of service.  In 1994 my Uncle passed at 42 years of age and I became the sole proprietor of our business.  Today our family still guides Ohio and Kentucky and we continue to educate our young loved ones in the passion of our life.  Making a living in the outdoors!
